On Tuesday, May 12, 2009, dog owners, with their dogs, turned out in large numbers to W. L. Jenkins Park on Crosby Cedar Bayou Road for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Baytown Bark Park. The ceremony had originally been planned for an earlier date, but had been postponed due to the reoccurring rainstorms that visited Baytown.
Several city officials were in attendance; among them were City Manager, Gary Brumback, Mayor Stephen DonCarlos, and Baytown Police Chief Daughtery. Also in attendance were Wayne Gray and Baytown Kennel Club President, Ken Rogers. Dog owners and dogs alike ventured out into the new park and enjoyed the facility.
