Filing Period Ends In Baytown City Council Races

 Candidate filing for the May 8, 2010 General Election is now over. Applications for those seeking positions on the Baytown City Council were due to the City Clerk by 5 p.m. today (March 8). Council Member positions that will be determined in the May General Election are for Districts No. 1, 2, and 3.

 Candidates are as follows:

District 1*

* Incumbent Lena Yepez is not seeking re-election

Ms. Carmen Torres

Mr. Scott Sheley (i)

 District 3

Mr. Brandon Capetillo (i)

Mr. Jerry Fallin

 Candidates in all races will draw for ballot position tomorrow (March 9) at 10 a.m. in the City Clerk’s Office located in City Hall (2401 Market Street).  Individuals who missed today’s deadline may file as a write-in candidate through Monday, March 15, 2010 at 5 p.m.

 Other important deadlines in the election calendar include March 16, as the last day for candidacy withdrawal; April 8 and 30, as the due dates for filing the first and second report of campaign contributions and expenditure; and April 26-May 4, as the early voting period.
